Metolius is a respected American climbing gear brand known for designing and manufacturing quality rock climbing equipment trusted by climbers around the world. The company was founded in 1983 by climbers working out of a garage near the headwaters of the Metolius River in Oregon, driven by a desire to build gear that met the real needs of climbers when much of the equipment available at the time was limited or unavailable.

Named after the nearby Metolius River and rooted in climbing culture, Metolius operates with the motto “by climbers for climbers,” and remains committed to the climbing lifestyle and performance. Over the decades, the brand has expanded its product line to include a broad range of rock climbing gear, from passive and spring‑loaded protection to harnesses, carabiners, crash pads, and training tools designed for trad, sport, bouldering, and big‑wall climbing.

Today, Metolius continues to emphasise innovation, safety, and design excellence, producing gear that supports climbers across disciplines while reflecting its deep heritage in the climbing community.
